The University of Fribourg has been recently extended by the new buildings of the Pérolles II site, which hosts part of the 10’000 students and 200 professors teaching and researching in Fribourg.

Modern and efficient in its conception, the Pérolles II site will contribute to the success of the gatherings held in its walls.

Access by air

Geneva and Zurich have international airports with direct flights to nearly 100 international destinations. The terminals have all facilities a traveller could desire. They are designed for speedy and simple check-in, and have essential services such as change, information and restaurants at strategic points.

  • Geneva Airport- Fribourg: by train 100min., by car 85 min.
  • Zurich Airport- Fribourg: by train 100min., by car 110 min.

Bern and Basel have smaller airports serving many European destinations.

Access by highway

Fribourg’s favoured geographical position makes it a natural focal point for the European traveller. Road facilities radiate from Fribourg to provide rapid access to the rest of Switzerland and Europe.

Access by Rail

The Swiss National Railroad system offers several links per hour to Lausanne, Geneva, Bern, Basel, Zurich and the regions of Vaud, Valais, Oberland and others (Tickets and timetable).

Should you travel from/to Basel, Geneva or Zurich and extend your stay in Switzerland, the purchase of the Swiss Half Fare Card is recommended (CHF 99.-, valid 30 days) (Information and ordering form).

How to get to Pérolles II

Exiting from the railway station you may take

  • Bus 1 (Direction Marly, stop Charmettes)
  • Bus 3 (Direction Pérolles, stop Charmettes)
  • Bus 7 (Direction Cliniques, stop Charmettes)

on the platform just in front of the station (buses leave to the right) or walk for 15 minutes along Boulevard de Pérolles (main street leaving the station at 45 degrees to the right).

Getting a ticket from the vending machine:

1. Type code 10
2. Select ticket for 1 to 6 stops and half-fare (if applicable)
3. Insert CHF 2.60 (exact change required, the machine does not return change!).

Alternatively, you may buy a TPF card at the counter near the back of the train station, which avoids the need to carry swiss coins.
